It is the middle of July and the sheep are high in the mountains on the summer range and the elk are in the velvet on Juniper Mountain. It is time for a break, so we are going fishing for kings, reds, silvers and halibut on the Kenai Peninsula.
We didn’t get much snow in eastern Idaho and most of the Upper Snake River reservoirs are already low. Some central Idaho farms are already out of water. We have been lucky on the elk ranch to get several afternoon and evening thundershowers. The moisture has kept the feed green and the good feed will make big horns on the elk.
The cow elk and bison are through calving and there seems to be a pretty good crop of calves. We never know until the snow comes and they start to “bunch up” how many calves we actually have; but it looks good.
We have a beautiful 500 plus inch bull if any of you folks are interested. It is still in the velvet but it will grow out to be maybe a 10x11. He is a nice, wide non-typical bull. Give us a call if you have a serious interest on this monster bull.
Our calendar is filling up and it looks like we are going to have a good year. If you haven’t committed for a hunt for this year please give us a call or email and let us help you plan your fall hunting trip. We still have openings.
