Weekly Newsletter

Happy Thanksgiving Oakhurst Church community! We have a lot to be thankful for as a brand new church and I hope that you spend some time this week considering all that God has done and is doing among us. We began worshipping together on August 7th and it has been incredible to see how God has brought such amazing servants to help make the dream of Oakhurst Church become a reality. There is certainly still a lot of work ahead, but we are filled with gratitude to see how far God has already brought us in only a few months. Please continue to pray that God would bless Oakhurst Church so that we can truly become a blessing to our neighborhood, city and our world!

Preschool Room Decor

Come check out the preschool room where Kaleb Drew, Roxy Miller, her sister Jenny and mother Cate have painted and added some fun items. Thanks to them for their time and efforts!

Dec. 3 Work Day

On Saturday, Dec. 3, we will hold a work gathering from 10 a.m. - noon, with projects including cleaning out the storage room and hanging shelves. From 1 - 3 p.m., we’ll decorate the church for Christmas and trim Christmas trees! Click HERE to Email Elisabeth Lloyd

Christmas Party

Join us on Dec. 16 from 7 - 9 p.m. for a Christmas party given by the Lloyds and hosted by Deb Johnson in her home, to thank everyone who has helped make Oakhurst Church a church. To RSVP, contact Elisabeth Lloyd (elisabeth@oakhurstchurch.com) and she will provide you with the address and more info.

Children's Ensemble

Our Christmas children’s ensemble will be presented during the Dec. 18 worship service. If you will help by practicing with the children (on Nov. 27, Dec. 4, and Dec. 10), playing guitar, writing and leading an Advent lesson, contributing to costumes, or other ways, please see Lani Martz after worship today or email her at lani@oakhurstchurch.com.

Covenant Classes

We will offer covenant classes on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Saturday, Jan. 28 for those who want to partner with Oakhurst Church and call it home. You may attend either class, or a 9 a.m. - noon morning session on Jan. 21 and 1 - 4 p.m afternoon session on Jan. 28. We will have a brief induction ceremony during our Jan. 29 worship service. For more information and to register, contact Timothy Lloyd (tim@oakhurstchurch.com).

Help with Doorhangers

We need help hanging fliers on mailboxes to let the community know about what is going on at Oakhurst Church during this Advent season. If you will help distribute fliers to your area, please see Chelsey Beck after the service or CLICK HERE to email her

Handmade Gift Fair

On Saturday, Dec. 10, please join us from noon - 7 p.m. for a Handmade Gift Fair. A wide variety of one-of-a-kind crafts made by local, eco-friendly, and multi-cultural artists will be available for sale.  Entertainment will include live music, henna temporary tattoos, and face painting.

Christmas Craftaganza

On Dec. 17, we will host a Christmas Craftaganza from 9 a.m. - noon. The event will feature stations for adults and kids to make crafts as Christmas gifts for loved ones, as well as one for assembling toiletry gift bags for an Atlanta area women’s shelter. A $1 event participation fee is requested to help defray costs of materials. Contact Natalie Jackson by email natalie@oakhurstchurch.com, Facebook, or call 478-718-5180.

Donate Coats!

Through Dec. 18, Oakhurst Church is participating in the One Warm Coat campaign (www.onewarmcoat.org) as our Christmas giving ministry. If you will donate clean, gently-used coats, jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, mittens, and hats, they would be greatly appreciated. A box is located in the lobby. We are in the process of selecting a Decatur area charity to receive the donations.
