MUSIC, GUEST SPEAKERS, SILENT AUCTION, Q&A PANEL WITH OUR UNIVERSITY SCHOLARS, and a LOT of fun!

We are pleased to invite you to our first ever Mardi Gras Fundraising Gala.

This past year, we have adapted in so many ways. Working with children, we know that COVID-19 doesn't need to stop us from having fun!
Join us for our first ever virtual fundraising event to hear updates from our local team in the Dominican Republic and reflections from special guest speaker José Horacio Rodríguez.

February 25, 2021

Program starts at 8pm ET

(Join at 7:40pm to party with our DJ!)

for a fantastic (virtual) celebration!
This year, we bring Dominican style to the comfort of your home! Enjoy music from our DJ, make a cocktail with our local team, win raffle prizes, bid on our silent auction, and help us raise funds to support our education programs from preschool through university!
Thanks to your donations, we have been able to continue our work through the hardships of 2020, working for an inclusive Dominican Republic for all individuals, through high-quality education and community engagement. Join our event to hear directly from Yspaniola's university scholars, our local teachers, executive director, and our special guest, José Horacio Rodríguez.
José Horacio Rodríguez is a Dominican human rights lawyer who has worked on many high profile cases, including petitioning the International Commission on Human Rights when a 2013 Constitutional Tribunal ruling in the DR left hundreds of thousands of Dominicans of Haitian descent stateless. He previously worked at the UN High Commission on Human Rights and Centro Bonó with Haitians and Dominicans of Haitian descent. In 2020, he was elected to the Dominican Congress on an anti-corruption pro-human rights platform after leading protests against the previous government last February. Since becoming elected, he introduced and helped pass legislation to ban child marriage in the DR. He has been an Yspaniola supporter for many years and worked with us to help register Batey Libertad residents during the National Regularization Plan in 2014.

RSVP today and join us on this special night to celebrate Mardi Gras!
