6th Annual Skeet Shoot
August 23, 2014 marked the 6th Annual Field Guides Skeet Shoot.  In 2009 we hosted a whopping 12 shooters.  Now, six years later we had 72 shooters participate in the event and another 50 friends and family members come to watch and eat lunch!

This years shoot offered the best competition and some of the most highly skilled shooters we have ever seen at one of our events!  Top shooter this year was the 2013 defending champion Bill Gorman!  Second place was Pete Helmick.  Both Bill and Pete broke 23 clays, but Bill had the longest run with 15 breaks in a row!  Third and fourth place were also determined by a tie breaker.  Both Scott Gorman and Ted Miller hit 22 clays, but Scott edged Ted with a long run of 13 in a row.  Some of the other top finishers were Jason Attas and Jeff Lackmeyer with 19 a piece, Melvin Coleman with 18 and Lindsey Johnson and Jimmy Stefka with 17 each.  Congrats to all of these shooters!

As always, everyone had a great time shooting and watching the other groups compete.  After everyone completed their round of skeet we all gathered together for a Gut Pak lunch from Vitek's BBQ.  To top the day off everyone got to hear a little bit about the focus and mission of Field Guides and received an invitation to join our support team from my good friend Brett Mills.  All in all, this was an awesome day.  I'm already looking forward to hosting another fun shoot in 2015!

Events like this don't get funded or "pulled-off" on their own.  Months of planning, hard work and sacrifice from a group of people went into this Skeet Shoot.  Let's give a big round of applause to our event sponsors for this year:
