Hope you and yours are doing as well as possible in these times.

There hasn't been much to report on my end, hence the pause over the summer thusfar, but I do have some updates to share:

  • I will be on the radio! On Tuesday, August 18th at 11am Central, I will be the special guest on the Voices of Unity show on Unity Online Radio. We'll be talking about Spiritual and Religious Healing. Tune in live or listen to the recording afterwards here:
  • My work at Unity is changing! After 3 years of overseeing the various Unity-branded retreats, I am letting go of my event management duties and taking on more of an Outreach focus, including developing more strategic partnerships. Happily, I will still be in charge of the Travel with Unity program (for whenever it's safe to travel again).
  • Ben and I went on a float trip (the most socially distanced vacation idea we could come up with). It was bad. Long story short, we were literally up a creek without a paddle. We'll be posting on social media soon... be sure to check my Facebook page for pics and the story of the ordeal. LOL!

Blessings to you for a calm rest of your summer.

Since March I have been in a grieving process, like all of us. My mantra has been "roll with it." First the quarantine. Then events started getting postponed, then canceled. The trips I was looking forward to got canceled. All the death. All the bad news I feel like I have to armor up to even read headlines. All the injustices and broken systems exacerbated. Then a huge change in my job. Letting go of identity markers.

I know how lucky I am. This has been a lot easier on me than a lot of people. It's tempting to breeze past and focus on the good, but that kind of bypass is not healthy. So I took some dedicated time to grieve and this poem emerged, which is what I share with you as inspiration and reflection today:

Creation mode
by Cheri Jamison

I am not yet in creation mode.

      I am in transition.

Recognizing the change
At the choice point of resistance and acceptance

Grieving efficiently, but fully
       Don’t hold anything in

Trust me, you will not cry forever or go insane

Let the storm rage through
       It will pass on

This is part of your human ecosystem

When the calm comes, rest
Rest until you’re ready to pick up the pieces

Clean the slate
Then set your eyes to the blank slate before you

Now you’re in creation mode.

My podcast has been on hold during COVID-19. Initially, it was just to honor the moment and not try to track down guests. Now it's starting to feel complete and a new podcast idea is emerging.... More on that next time!
