Drypoint printing with paper plates

Wednesday 14th September 10am - 4pm

The soft feathery lines of drypoint lend themselves to playful illustrations or expressive sketches. Learn how to make a drypoint plate using inexpensive laminated paper plates. Exploring your own designs and images, you will learn about inks and registration and also experiment with chin collé, a collage technique that can be used to introduce areas of colour during the printing process.

Introduction to polymer clay

Wednesday 14th September 10am - 1pm

Learn the basic techniques required to work with polymer clay. From conditioning, shaping, colour mixing and blending to baking and storage tips.
In this fun introductory session you will learn tips and tricks for handling the clay and its many uses,  making basic shapes by hand and also using simple tools.

Bath and body products

Thursday 15th September 10am - 4pm

A day to indulge in making luscious bath and body products.
You will go home with examples of a lip balm, a herbal salve, a solid perfume or a solid lotion bar, a whipped hand balm/body butter, a sugar scrub and a salt based bath soak. All of these and the knowledge to produce more as gifts for family and friends. Just perfect for Christmas!

Treasure boxes

Tuesday 20th September 10am - 4pm

Create a beautifully stitched lid for your treasure box using free machine embroidery and fabric collage. Find your inspiration in the garden and choose between flowers or a small bird for the focus of your design.

Acrylic paints are an incredibly versatile medium.
Through both structured tuition and experimentation, this workshop provides the opportunity
to learn about acrylic paints, mediums and techniques to enable you to start painting.

Metal forming and enamelling

Wednesday 21st September 10am - 4pm

Metal forming can be used to create a wide variety of items.
During this workshop you will be taught techniques including shaping, bending, hammering and texturing metal. You will then transfer your chosen shape onto shim copper and finish by enamelling.

Thursday 22nd September 1.30pm - 4pm

Create a simple silver charm bracelet or anklet on this half day workshop which is designed to introduce you to the amazing qualities of silver clay.

An introduction to woodcut printmaking

Wednesday 26th October 10am - 4pm

You will design and produce a wood block print using your own collected ideas and imagery. Experiment with basic carving techniques on a sample piece of wood before carving the Japanese plywood block. Learn how to apply ink and then hand burnish the printed block,
using a Japanese baren, onto fine paper to create your own beautiful print.

Eco printed paper angels

Saturday 5th November 10am - 12.30pm

Two techniques will be explored to make decorative paper angels based around reinforced poppy seed-heads.
You will go home with a completed momugami angel, and the materials and simple instructions to complete the remaining angels.

Festive felted robins

Saturday 5th November 1.30pm - 4pm

Make a charming little robin to hang in your Christmas tree, by using the simple technique of needle felting.
No prior skill required – just work with natural fleece and a special needle and off you go.

Woven willow trivet or platter

Wednesday 9th November 1.30pm - 4.30pm

Make this really useful woven willow trivet / platter. A great addition to any home, suitable for placing hot pans off the stove to save your worktop or serving bread, fruit and festive bakes.

Wednesday 30th November 10am -1pm

A fun and festive session, learning how to use polymer clay to make a selection of attractive hanging Christmas decorations for your own tree or to give as gifts.

Copper foiled glass bunting

Thursday 1st December 1.30pm - 4.30pm

On this half day workshop you will have the opportunity to create a beautiful strand of copper foiled glass bunting. Learn how to safely handle and cut your chosen pieces of coloured glass, grind the edges and then foil them using copper tape. The final stage will be to solder the pieces together to form your triangle.

Thursday 1st December 9.30am - 12.30pm

Come and have fun making glass gifts for your family or to hang on your Christmas tree. Make a small colourful glass angel, Christmas robin or a tea light votive.

Berry basket

Wednesday 7th December 9.30am - 4.30pm

This workshop is a wonderful introduction to basketmaking.
You will make one traditional stake and strand basket using several varieties of coloured and stripped willow. Learn the principles of stake and strand basketmaking, making bases, inserting side stakes, 3 rod whale, a trac border and inserting a handle. Your lovely little basket will be perfect for berry or egg collecting.

Willow sculpture reindeer

Thursday 8th December 10am - 4pm

A festive workshop where you will make a willow reindeer using the skills for willow sculpture.  The reindeer will be made using random weaving techniques and you can opt for the natural look or add your own Christmas lights for festive fun.

Introduction to silversmithing - 5 day course

Tues 25th April, Tues 9th May, Tues 23rd May, Tues 6th June, Tues 20th June

Learn traditional and contemporary silversmithing techniques on this five day course. It is a rare opportunity to practise a range of techniques and study the cross-overs between jewellery and three dimensional form in metal with the option of creating a finished piece or pieces.
