Are you interested in printmaking? Are you looking for a course that gives you the skills to become an accomplished printmaker whilst working towards a qualification? Join us for a weekend each month between between October and June to immerse yourself in your printmaking with like-minded students and your talented and experienced tutor, Jacqui Dodds. The course is suitable for both beginners and more experienced printmakers who wish to broaden their knowledge and develop their skills.
There are no entry requirements and no previous experience is necessary. Course fees may be paid in full in advance or in monthly instalments. We request a non-refundable deposit on booking to secure a place.
We have some residential accommodation available to students who wish to stay in college during their course. Full details of accommodation and costs are available on request from Sarah at info@westhope.org.uk

Shelley Wingrove recently completed the City & Guilds Printmaking course at Westhope. Shelley describes herself as a printmaker/artist and continues her printmaking journey in Little Black Mare, her printmaking studio and “absolute labour of love”. Sinamay flowers
Thursday 19th May 9.30am - 12pm
Enjoy this half day workshop experimenting with sinamay and create a lightweight, everlasting flower. Learn how to cut and manipulate the sinamay into a beautiful calla lily shape, adding leaves and a stamen to enhance your design.

Silver jewellery in a day
Saturday 21st May 10am - 4pm
Spend a day learning simple techniques to produce your own metal jewellery. Practise tool use and model-making in copper first, then lose yourself in the magical process of turning silver into unique pieces of jewellery before your very eyes!

Still life in batik
Tuesday 24th May 10am - 4pm
A vase of flowers or a few favourite objects, these will be the inspiration to create batiks on tissue using Jenny’s contemporary interpretation of a traditional technique. Working with hot wax, bleach and inks, tissue and other papers to make individual pieces of work.

Creative glass fusing
Tuesday 24th May 10.30am - 3.30pm
Aninformative and creative workshop in Fused Glass. Learn the difference between a full fuse and tac or contour fusing. Create fabulous artwork using appropriate coloured glass and inclusions. You will learn how to cut and handle glass safely and the general principals of glass fusing
