The Principal's Message

THANKS AND SEASONS GREETINGS
I would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers for their ongoing support of the school throughout 2014. We couldn’t provide the many programs without your support. Through this strong sense of community, the school will continue to reflect the values of Mount Hawthorn into the future.  Some parents who have supported the school will end their association with Mount Hawthorn Primary School this year. On behalf of the community, I thank you for your commitment and dedication in assisting the staff to deliver a quality program. Your efforts have been greatly appreciated and you will always be welcomed at Mount Hawthorn Primary. On a personal note, I would like to wish each and every family a wonderful Christmas filled with food and books that the whole family can enjoy.
STAFF LEAVING
Alida Jones is leaving us and I would like to acknowledge her contribution to our school and wish her all the best in her new career path.
Jane Miles and Petroula Lazaridis are retiring. We would like to acknowledge their service to the Education Department and the Mount Hawthorn School Community.
SCHOOL REVUE NIGHT
Huge thanks go to Amanda Humphreys and the P&C for the always entertaining Parent Revue, which reinforces the strong community spirit we enjoy at our school. I was especially pleased to have another opportunity to put on a safari suit!
EDUDANCE CONCERTS
The fabulous Edu-dance concerts commenced today, and will continue for the next two afternoons. Click HERE for an EDU-Dance concert Timetable

END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES

2015 BOOK COLLECTION, CLASS LISTS AND UNIFORM SERVICE
Class lists will be posted on the school website with different year groups posted each day (i.e. K/P, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6) We will notify parents via the School App and Liaison Parent emails when each year level list will be posted.
Please note that these list are subject to change before commencement of classes in 2015.
Campion orders will be available for collection from 8.30am – 11.00am in the undercover area. Payment may be made by EFTPOS, Credit Card,  Money Order or cash (no cheque) on collection. The Uniform Service will be open from 8.00am – 12.00pm.
HOUSEKEEPING
As the end of the year is fast approaching, we remind all families who have outstanding Term 4 accounts that payment by cash, cheque or credit card is gratefully accepted at the office. We are also still happy to accept payment for Voluntary Contributions.
If your family has moved address or will not be returning to Mount Hawthorn in 2015, please advise the office staff ASAP.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP HANDOVER TALKS
The Year 5 classes have recently had a visit from the Year 6 and 7 leaders of 2014. The purpose of these visits was to pass on advice about the variety of leadership roles available to them in 2015. The current student leaders talked about the qualities and skills needed to take on the roles and the jobs that come with them. The current Year 5 students will be the new student leaders in 2015. Now is the time for them to put some thought into what role may be suitable for them. Thanks to the Year 6 and 7 leaders and good luck to the Year 5 students.
TABLET SURVEY
We would really like feedback from parents of children in ALL year levels about the proposed tablet program for Year 5 2015. Therefore, we are asking parents to complete this very quick survey by Monday, 15 December 2014.
