Family Program Takes Flight Encouraging the creative spark in all of us, the Wendell Gilley Museum is offering an art and nature program for families on the second Saturday of each month. Geared for children ages 5 to 12 and their adult companions, the program will focus on exploring, learning, and creating art together.
Check out more information about the March 11 wax-resist project. The program is held from 10-11:30 a.m. and has a small fee to cover the cost of materials, $2.50/person; free for members. Pre-registration is encouraged; call 207-244-7555 or email us. |
Carving Class and Club Chip Away  Friday and Saturday afternoons are a bustling time at the museum with carvers working on Blue-winged Teals and other projects. Carving club is a great chance to enjoy conversation and coffee while working on a project, we always welcome new members to the table. Works from class, club, and school arts weeks will be on display at our Spring Open House, May 28. |
Carving in the Schools  Steve Valleau, carver-in-residence will be teaching students at Mount Desert and Tremont Elementary Schools during their Arts Week programs this spring. Students' sandpiper carvings will be on display during the Spring Open House on May 28. |
Beautiful Birds at Library  Our outreach activities also included a program in partnership with the Somesville Library in January. Dozens of children and their parents came out to hear stories, learn about birds, and do some fun crafts.
