Dr. David Shoemaker is recognized as a leading expert on the A.'.A.'., the system of personal and spiritual development created by Aleister Crowley, and is known for his entertaining and down- to-earth explanations of such arcane subjects as ceremonial magick, Qabalah, and raja yoga. In this lecture, David will discuss the major training "tracks" within the A.'.A.'., and show how they develop across the First Order Grades, culminating with the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel.
David is a clinical psychologist in private practice, specializing in Jungian and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. He is the Chancellor of the International College of Thelema (formerly the College of Thelema of Northern California), and the Prolocutor of its initiatory Order, the Temple of the Silver Star. He has been a member of O.T.O. and A∴A∴ since 1993, and he has many years of experience supervising students in these traditions.
He is Past Master of 418 Lodge, O.T.O. in Sacramento, having succeeded Soror Meral (Phyllis Seckler), his friend and teacher. He also serves as as a Sovereign Grand Inspector General of U.S. Grand Lodge, and as a Bishop of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica. David is the founding President of the O.T.O. Psychology Guild. His popular Living Thelema instructional segments are featured regularly on the Speech in the Silence podcast.
